The Airdri Group welcomes the UK Government’s announcement on expanding apprenticeships for under 25s, in particular new apprenticeships in engineering.

The Airdri Group is a UK headquartered family of engineering businesses, combining engineering excellence, innovation, research and development with a focus on sustainability and reliability – resulting in world-class product ranges. Alongside Airdri hand dryers, the Group includes Steraspace – innovative sanitizers; and Formula Systems – sector-leading elevator safety technologies, and serves markets worldwide.

Stephen Whittall, Chief Operating Officer, The Airdri Group says: “The announcement of a significant expansion of the apprenticeship scheme is welcome. The removal of the 5% levy on employers is sensible. UK engineering, research and development, design and manufacturing businesses of all sizes need this commitment to the fully-funded apprenticeship route for young people, together with flexible shorter courses.

On the Youth Guarantee* we support the CBI** position that government needs to work with employers to shape its design and delivery, and ensure the funding is used where it will have the greatest impact.

As a UK headquartered engineering business we are pleased to see new apprenticeships in both engineering and AI technologies. We will be taking action now to increase the apprenticeship opportunities within the Group for 2026.”

*Youth Guarantee – ensuring all young people especially 18-21year olds are in education, training or employment.
